Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park

5 day Sample Itinerary

Day 1 - Spend your first day in Acadia National Park.  Pack a lunch and spend the day hiking. Start by hiking North Ridge Trail at Cadillac Mountain – 4.4 miles round trip (about a  4 hour hike) Then head to Bubbles Divide (Bubbles Rock Trail) – 1 mile round trip about 1 hour hike.  After some resting time at your hotel or rental home, head to downtown Bar Harbor.  Enjoy walking around, exploring the quaint shops, and getting abite to eat at one of the many delicious restaurants in Bar Harbor.

Day 2 - On your second day, rent kayaks and explore the waters near Acadia National Park.  In the afternoon, join one of the many Park Ranger led tours to learn more about the animals and ecosystem of Acadia National Park.

Day 3 - Enjoy another hiking day!  Pack a lunch and head to Sand Beach and Great Head trail – 1.7 miles about 1 1/2 hours.  If it's nice be sure to pack swimsuits and towels and cool off in the waters or build sand castles in the sand.  For more hiking head to Ocean Path – 4 miles about 4 hour hike.  In the evening head to Bar Harbor for a seafood dinner and sweet treat.

Day 4 - In the morning head to Jordan Pond Path Trail – 3.3 miles round trip about 2 hours.  Then enjoy lunch at Jordan House (Be sure to make reservations!) with the incredible view.  In the afternoon if would like to hike more, head to Gorham Mountain Trail – 1.8 miles about 1 ½ hours or Schrooner Head Overlook and Path – 2 miles round trip about 1 1/2 hours.

Day 5 - Start your morning meeting Diver Ed (Diver Ed's Dive in) at his boat for a morning full of learning about ocean life and petting ocean animals.  After lunch, spend the rest of the day with lots of beautiful little hikes.  These hikes are great for small children!    Hike Wonderland - 1.4 miles round trip about 1 hour.  Ship Harbor Trail – 1.3 miles round trip around 1 hour.  Bass Harbor Headlight Trail - .2 miles 30 minutes round trip. End you last evening in Maine with a fun dinner downtown Bar Harbor.
