Lubeck, a UNESCO world heritage site,  is one of the most romantic towns in Germany.  Lubeck boasts beautiful medieval architecture, abundant culture, and delicious marzipan treats!  It is small in size and easy to see all in a day trip but it packs so much beauty in such a small area.

  • Holsten Gate, a gothic style brick gate built in 1464. It’s gigantic and so strong looking. It’s a powerful entrance to the beauty that lays behind it.
  • Marzipan - Before we arrived in Lubeck we heard that Lubeck was famous for it's marzipan.  We made sure to stop in one of the oldest marzipan shops.
  • Lubeck Old Town - Walk the streets,  exploring the side streets, the nooks and crannies.  So many beautiful hidden side streets and architectural wonders.
  • The Marienkirche -  Third largest church in Germany.  Known for its stunning gothic architecture.
  • Rathaus - Sometimes described as a "fairy tale in stone", Rathaus is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful buildings in Germany. Inside, a highlight is the Audienzsaal (audience hall), a light-flooded hall decked out in festive rococo.

Where to eat in Lubeck

Schiffergesellschaft -  was built in the early 1500s and used in the shipping business. Only lately it was turned into a restaurant. The hall is restored beautifully and the woods and decor are absolutely stunning. We had an incredible meal, everything was absolutely delicious. We shared the duck and weinerschnitzel (as our waitress highly recommended it), and the boys had pastas.
Cafe Niederegger serves 100% pure marzipan (with no additives) and a host of delicious marzipan-infused treats, including tarts, cakes, beverages, liqueur and chocolates.
