Day 2 - Dedicate this day to all things "Anne of Green Gables".  If you haven't read the book, be sure to read it before you visit PEI.  It will make the Island even more magical.  Start your day in  Cavendish at the very setting of Anne’s story Green Gables Heritage Place. Explore the preserved gabled house that inspired Lucy Maud Montgomery and stroll the grounds, including the Haunted Wood and Lovers Lane.  Then visit the site of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s Cavendish home, where the author’s relatives still reside. Browse an impressive selection of books for sale and take a guided tour of the grounds.  Spend the later afternoon at Avonlea Village, a recreated rural community based on the village where Anne lived. Browse eclectic shops and indulge your senses at one of Avonlea’s delectable eateries. End the evening in Charlottetown with dinner and a performance at the Guild of Anne & Gilbert, The Musical, a celebration of Canada’s best-known love story.
