Reykjavik - 3 day Sample Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in Reykjavik. Drop off luggage and head out to explore the beautiful city of Reykjavik. First visit Hallgrimskirkja. Then stroll along Laugavegur, Iceland's most trendiest street! Stop in one of the many restaurants dotting the street for dinner. If you are staying at an apartment or house and you will be heading to the Golden Circle or starting your drive around the Ring Road, use this time to go to the grocery store. We like Bonus Supermarket. Restaurants in Iceland are expensive and far between once you get out of Reykjavik. So it was great to have food in a cooler in the car to snack on when ever we needed refueling.
Day 2 - Start your morning with a walk to Solfar (Sun Voyager) Sculpture. Then walk to Harpa Reykjavik Concert Hall and Conference Centre. Head inside to admire the gorgeous glass architecture inside. Now that you have walked up an appetite walk to lunch at Baejarins Betzu Plysar famous Hot dogs (get it with the works!) Long line goes fast! Walk off your hot dogs by walking to the Volcano House, volcano museum. Be sure to watch the video about the local volcanoes. Then walk to the Aurora Reykajavik Museum. Its a museum about the northern lights. Be sure to grab a bean bag chair and watch the northern lights projected on the screen. Then if your aren't tired of museums yet, head to the Whales of Iceland museum. Be sure to get the Audio Tour guide for your phone. Walk the gorgeous Harbor after the museum. If it's nice out enjoy the most delicious Fish and Chips dinner outside from Vagninn Food Truck.
Day 3 - Drive out of Reykjavik and head to the Blue Lagoon. Be sure to have already made reservations weeks, or better months, in advance. Early morning is the best time to go. Enjoy your relaxing time at the Blue Lagoon. We spent 4 hours there. If you get hungry have lunch at the café at Blue Lagoon. Once you are dried off and ready to explore more, head to the Viking World Museum. After the museum, enjoy the beautiful drive back to Reykjavik.
