What to See and Do in Reykjavik

Reykjavik is one of the cleanest most breathtaking cities I have ever seen.  If you are staying in the central part of the city, most places are easily walkable. Reykjavik is a bustling, electric city, without feeling overcrowded.  There are so many great things to see while in Reykjavik.
  • Hallgrimskirkja
  • Solfar (Sun Voyager) Sculpture
  • Harpa Reykjavik Concert Hall and Conference Centre
  • The Blue Lagoon
  • Viking World Museum
  • Walk the best street in Reykjavik - Laugavegur
  • Walk the Harbor in Reykjavik
  • Baejarins Betzu Plysar famous Hot dogs
  • Volcano House –volcano museum
  • Aurora Reykajavik – Museum about the northern lights

Where to  Eat in Reykjavik

Eat

Eating at restaurants in Iceland can be VERY expensive.  To save money we purchased a cooler and ice packs at a local store.  We headed to Bonus grocery store and stocked up on breakfast food (definitely try Iceland's Skyr yogurt, it delicious), bread, lunch meats, cheeses, veggies, fruits, and snack foods.  This was wonderful because much of the time you are traveling around Iceland you are in the middle of nowhere. You can eat in your car after a long hike, or a long drive,  without having to search for a place.  This is how we ate many of our meals. Anytime we found a grocery store, we would stock up again.  At the grocery store we would spend about $50 - $60 on 3 days of breakfasts and lunches for all 4 of us.

Bonus Super Market  - located on Laugavegur

Baejarins Beztu Pylsur - YOU HAVE TO GO HERE!! - This is Iceland's famous hot dog shop.  Be sure to get "everything" on it!

Fish and Chips Vagninn - A food truck near the harbor in Reykjavik.  Delicious and very fresh.

Eldsmiojan Pizza - Artisinal Pizzas.  Very good though took a long time to get our food.  Located right on Laugavegur.

Roadhouse - If you are craving an American style burger and fries, this is a good option.  However it was extremely expensive.  For 4 people, just burgers and fries, it was $100!!

Valdis Ice Cream shop -  Delicious Ice Cream by the harbor.
