Day 1 - Be sure to pack some snacks or food, there are not many places to eat on the drive to the Golden Circle.

Start your morning early by driving to Thingvellir National Park (about an hour from Reykjavik).  Drive first towards Oxararfoss waterfall.  Park the car and take the beautiful hike between the ridges to the waterfall.  After the beautiful hike drive to Haukadalur, an unearthly area with geysers and geothermal pools.  Continue your adventure at the Golden Circle, by heading to Gulfoss.  Gulfoss is an incrediblly powerful waterfall and absolutely beautiful to watch.  End your day by driving back to Reykjavik, which is about 2 hours from Gulfoss.  If you have time, stop at Kerio crater on the way.
